This message will be removed from Groups in 3 days (Jul 22, 12:02 am). I was wondering, why would you request that? It seems that over time - assuming you'll post more of these stats- there would be some interest in comparing stats from different weeks.

Why Google chooses to word it that way is anybody's guess. I've read that they don't even really "remove" it from their archives, but only from the publicly available ones. Matter of fact, before dejanews came along, all usenet was transitory, with most ISP servers having retention times on the order of 10 days or two weeks. Usenet archives weren't even a serious concept. IIRC, it wasn't until there was a dejanews archive that the X-No-Archive flag even came into being. > I was wondering, why would you request that? Soo... not *that* much interest. ;-) I view the weekly stats as sort of snapshots that present a somewhat interesting view of the "current" period. Kind of like a newspaper. You read it and throw it away. The monthly stats give a longer term overview, so I don't flag those; more like a monthly magazine that you might keep around for awhile. Bottom line though, if someone (like Daveb, aka lockjaw, for instance) is interested enough in archiving the weekly Stats, all he has to do is quote the whole post before adding a comment to the bottom. Voila. He's now demonstrated his fascination for the stats by archiving the post himself.

Nobody should mistake it for a review of quality of dialogue meter, but it does give a great snapshot of what is going on in ac. For a group that is so obsessed in general with numbers, measurements, etc, it is a natural extension of what goes on in ac. Bernie

For a split second I thought of including something similar, but I generally steer away from stating the obvious. ;-) > but it does give a great snapshot of what is > going on in ac. For a group that is so obsessed in general with numbers, > measurements, etc, it is a natural extension of what goes on in ac. Obsessed??? ;-) As people get more fed-up with the google interface and begin looking for real newsreaders, they may also find it useful to see what user agents are most popular. Here too, "most popular" doesn't necessarily imply best for any particular individual, but the "Top 10 User Agent" lists at least serve as a starting point. Matter of fact, if any disclaimers are warranted they'd be that google is notorious for multiple posts so take that number with a grain of salt, and that the time zone listing is artificially weighted towards the Pacific time zone and GMT/UTC.

It would be akin to explaining why you don't find value in art, or why you find no value in following common social convention (rules of netiquette, for instance). I've tried to make it as easy as possible for anyone who doesn't want to see these to filter them. Either of two filters would be effective: the From header with "Stats," or where the Subject line starts with "AC Stats." To be extra sure, filter both.
