but they enjoy ascribing the reduced activity here to me! as if !
Just laughable.
and BTW at least 25 percent of the posts in the recent past have been
vitriolic personal attacks, a REAL turnoff to newbies or the
occaisional visitor.
I fail to see the meaning of the detailed stats, but whatever.
It would seem that there is much more interest in the moderated groups
i.e. Cgeek
HB to name some of the more prominent. They do not have the archaic
and anarchic format of the usenet, and whining and personal attacks
are removed. e.g. "annoying little twerp" and idiotic posts from the
likes of the anonymous "Steve" whose sole purpose is to follow me
around. Now how sick is that?
I did notice that ANY posts from ANY vendor on those sites is
summarily dismissed, as being motivated to generate sales.

Since an apparent decline in total postings seems to be of great interest to
you, and because you've always shown yourself to be a thoughtful, analytical
person, surely you've speculated on the significance of this decline and its
ramifications.
So what does it all mean, daveb? Is it just an indication of the decline in
Usenet posting generally? Does it have to do with a decline in the interest
of the subject of coffee? Is it due to a perceived narrowing of scope of
subject matter? Dissatisfaction with "posts" which turn out to be
advertisements? Irritation and exasperation caused by certain posters?
Could it even be possible that the decline in number of postings is actually
a good thing? Perhaps posts are fewer, but more meaningful and informative?
If your "great interest" is borne of something more than unexamined
Schadenfreude, I'm sure you'll be happy to share your thoughts . . .

I did finally get around to filtering daveb's latest
ID, so once again, I don't see his posts, but just for
the sake of curiosity, I ran the stats script on the
same date range for last year.
Week to week, posting volumes are comparable.
Even checking goggle groups shows 266 posts for this
date range last year... or 256 depending on which
page you do the search from.
