A few weeks ago, I already posted the message below, but didn't get a response. Hopefully you don't mind that I try it again. Lately I noticed that when I end the pull, by switching off the coffee/brew switch, a little bit of espresso is squirted from one of the spouts, in that way that it ends up besides the machine on ther counter. Could it be that the 3 way valve isn't functioning correctly anymore and that I have to disassemble and clean it ? Btw, every now and then I DO backflush, following the guide on RandyG's website.

I've had my silvia for about a year now, and I only back flush occasionally.. like maybe once every couple months. I don't really think you have to do it all that often.

not an expert, but can't you see if the 3 way valve is working by attempting to backflush it? if water does come out of the valve, then I wouldnt think it would be possible for water to shoot through the puck when pulling a shot, unless it wasn't packed very well and loose. (ie not enough pressure for the valve to release?) i dunno.. im just guessing

But could it be that it sticks sometimes and that I should backflush more often, if need be with water only ? Btw, I use the Weiss distribution method to dose and distribute and then pack with around 20-25lbs, still using a bathroom scale to keep it consistent.
