Subject: Changed my group gasked on my Expobar and now it's *really* tight- is that normal?
|
Hi, Got my Expobar Pulser up and running again after my pump failed on Sunday. The machine was a couple years old and had the original group gasket and shower screen, so I ordered E61 parts from Chris Coffee along with my new ULKA 52W pump. The one that came out of it was 8mm, so I ordered that size again. Got it in, but now my portafilter is super tight- I can't lock it in without holding on to the machine for leverage. Is that normal? Will it break in, or did I not do something right. The gasket had one side with a slight bevel on the edge, and I installed that side up. Pulser is Expobar's E61 clone they make themselves, it's not an Italian E61, does that matter? Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Wes

I've ordered gaskets from Chris annually for quite a few years now. I used to order one at a time. Last year I had the brilliant idea of ordering two (!) to save on shipping. I order the same size each year and wouldn't you know it the ones I ordered this time were thicker and kept the pf from tightening enough for me to be comfortable with. I had to order another one 0.5mm thinner. I think there is a great amount of manufacturing tolerance in these things, hence the problems we're encountering... Keith R. Warrenton, VA USA

Is the size stamped on the gasket? Just because you ordered an 8mm doesn't mean that's what they sent you. -- Robert (duck & cover) Harmon http://tinyurl.com/pou2y http://tinyurl.com/psfob http://tinyurl.com/fkd6r "wes" <wnance3@rochester.rr.com > wrote in message news:1158867018.638208.18130@m7g2000cwm.googlegroups.com... > Hi, > > Got my Expobar Pulser up and running again after my pump failed on > Sunday.
