Subject: Espresso in Manhattan
The posts on this topic are old, so I've been wondering if there has
been any updates.

Are there any excellent expresso places in Manhattan - especially
midtown?

I've been to Ninth Street Espresso. Pretty darn good. Nice latte
art too. Yes, I know about Gimme, but Brooklyn is too far for me.

Thanks,
AABob

Oren's Daily Roast is pretty good. I'd say the espresso has much
better crema and flavor than Starbucks, though not quite as amazing as
Ninth Street. The staff is friendly and very competent on the Cimbali.

There's an Oren's in Grand Central Terminal near 42nd and Park.

Ninth Street is opening a new location, soon. At 12th St. between 3rd
and 4th, if I recall correctly. Still not midtown, but a damn sight
easier for most people to get to.

Totally forgot about those...sorry Mike. I've been in bed for the past
3 days and not thinking clearly.

Hey "Andy,"

just wanted to warn you that if you're intending to cash in on my incredible
fame and fortune by adopting a name similar to mine, it won't work. :-)

There's also the new Grumpy on 20th Street between 7th and 8th.
Nothing that I know of in Midtown. And for what it's worth, Gimme is
less than 10 minutes from Union Square.

It's not midtown but Cafe Collage in the west village is awesome.
They're on the NW corner of Bleeker and MacDougal, so it's close to
west 4th and 1 over on houston. It's worth the trip and alot easier to
get to that Ninth St.
