Here's a good one - daveb, or dave713, as he's known on eBay is a piece of
work. I posted two reviews of espresso machines on eBay. Guess what, our ol'
buddy went out of his way to post a negative review on the same subjects.
Coincidence you ask? Hardly I say! He's gone out of his way to argue about
almost every post I've made & now he's carrying it over to eBay.

It's not so much that I mind the idiot & his ranting on, and on, and on,
etc., etc., ad nauseam. It's just that the jerk never has anything to offer
that would help someone buy or repair a machine. It's always; don't buy
this, or that feature suck, or don't do this to your machine, or don't use
that in your machine. Can anyone recall the last time the fool ever actually
helped anyone solve a problem. So there's no uptick to his perpetual
downtick and besides which he's extremely boring.

Anyone else notice that Miss Penny = dave b ?

That would be hilarious if it weren't so pitiful. Like his good
butty, he needs SO badly to be heard that he nymshifts to get around
all the killfiles he lives in.

Since Miss Penny signs herself as Dave in his post in the "Fuji PXR
input measuring range" thread there's no theory required. Dave
tripped up and still cannot conduct himself in a manner befitting a
poster who has, reportedly, a degree of business acumen and expects
others to ship expensive machines for expensive modification to him,
and that he has links with ChrisCoffeee (who's reputation he is surely
going to damage soon?) would worry me if I were Chris.

Since people say that he is a nice guy to deal with in person, he
should stick to "in person" and leave the online keting (and his
dummies guide to keting softback) on the bookshelf, before he does
something which could be litigatious.

I just want to say to everyone that I really loved this newsgroup, and I got
so much out of it that I'm humbled. To think that I can get on line and get
immediate feedback from the likes of Barry and Randy and Ken and Alan--and
many others-- it just blows my mind. I even got an invitation to come over
to someone's house now that I've moved to L.A. And beyond the
graciousness, I've received expert advice on repairing my Giotto, my Gaggia
Baby, and improving my espresso and cappas. Dave B even sent me an ULKA
pump for free to fix my Baby.

I know I haven't posted much since the Giotto teflon sleeve nighte
fishing expedition, and it does have something to do with the foolishness
going on here, but it doesn't detract from what I got out of it.

In my mind, nothing spoils that.

Peace,

Welcome to L.A! Have you tried Luxxe Caffe yet? (about 15 min. from U
of J outside of rush hour). If you get out to Pasadena, Jones Coffee
is definitely worth a visit, too (major espresso upgrade, especially
if Chuck is pouring). Look for improvements at Groundwork, and a new
Intelligentsia outpost in Silverlake. More good things are also in the
pipeline.

University of Judaism.

Totally hokey name, but very cool place. It has one of the two seminaries
for Conservative Judaism in the U.S.

The coffee is pretty bad though unless you stop by my apartment. Barry's
Taliaferra is on tap right now.

Thanks, shall. I think I did make it to Cafe Luxxe. If it's the one,
I'm thinking of, I had to go twice because it was closed the first time. Is
it on Montana street? The first time, it was closed and I went a block down
to Diedrich (I believe) Roasters, and the espresso beans I bought (the blend
they use to make espresso) was yukky charcoal.

Made it to Luxxe a week later. Great atmosphere, wonderful service.
Personally, the espresso seemed to lack crema. I thought of saying
something about perhaps making an adjustment, but I thought better of it.
Yummy cappa, nice latte art, and nice people.

And I picked up some beans which looked an awful lot like Vivace.

I'm looking forward to more adventures! I keep getting a bitter flavor in
my Giotto. I tried to give it a good cleaning, but perhaps I wasn't thorough
enough.

You down the hill toward L.A. or "the valley"? I've been shopping at the

didn't bother with the accent over the u on the street signs.
Being as how in Spanish the second last syllable is normally accented when
there are no ks you were actually pronouncing it much like a native
speaker would have if they saw the word written out of context with no
accent ks. The accents get lost in the translation to street signs.

If you do killfile him then how do you keep seeing his messages. The
only way this cycle is gonna stop is if one of you decides to call a
halt to the tit-for-tat stuff. If you choose to not stop, then just
don't come complaining and whining about how he keeps picking on you
with those mean messages. Just sit back and keep up with your brand of
fun.

Fact is: Harmon hasn't contributed anything but foul-mouthed bickering
and inanities to this group since he showed up. The guy acts like
he's still stuck in jr. high school. I am continually astonished that
a supposedly mature adult can carry on like he does. There is
obviously something seriously wrong with the guy.

Dave, on the other hand, is providing a service and products that many
find valuable. That is obvious from many comments here and on ebay.

My guess: Harmon resents the fact that Dave, who has continually
showed Harmon to be the fool that he is, is reasonably successful at
providing a service. He resents it so much that his ego forces him to
troll the planet looking for ways to belittle the guy.

What kind of human being expects to be taken seriously when he tells
someone to "go piss up a rope"? This is one sick man.
