Subject: How should I grind per shot ?

Having started to roast myself, I now have more than one kind of roasted
beans and would like to try them after each other. That would mean
that I have to grind per shot. But what would be the best way to do that ?
I have a doserless Mazzer Mini E. Of course I could measure the beans
and put them in the hopper but then I will get the popcorn effect during
the last part of the grind. Loading more beans in the hopper on the
other hand would result in leaving some beans of the "old" batch in the
grinder.

IMO, the popcorn effect is negligible when grinding per shot. As far as
I know, the big argument against popcorning is inconsistency - that is,
a different grinding dynamic compared to a hopper full of beans. If you
are grinding each shot premeasured, that inconsistency is eliminated.

In my NS MDX, I rarely saw popcorning, but following pointers
here, I found one of my redundant plastic tampers covered the
throat perfectly. Measure beans per shot, pour, cover with tamper
- voila, pas de popcorn
