Subject: Private Label ATOMIC for Cuban Sears Roebuck ??
I've posted some photos on alt.binaries.coffee of what appears to be a
private-label ATOMIC made for
the Cuban branch of Sears Roebuck. Note the unusual (but not unknown) shape
of the carafe, and the fact that it has no steam wand, which would place it
around the 40's, I believe. Does anyone have any info on the ATOMIC - Sears
Roebuck connection?

Wow- that's obscure. I'll bet there aren't many of these floating around, at
least on the mainland. For all I know, they are as common as '57 Chevies in
Havana.

Sears Havana outlet opened in 1942 according to Google so they could have
sold an Atomic as of the late '40s. I assume that the Sears closed sometime
after the revolution (very early '60s) so that would be the outside date.

I'm not an Atomic expert but I thought the early (pre-1950s) Atomics lacked
the plug in front of the water reservoir. If I had to guess date this thing
it would be 1950s.

For some reason the Atomics are highly collectible (as coffee devices they
are OK but don't justify the values that collectors put on them), so I'm
guessing that a collector would pay a pretty penny for what must be a rare
model.

Wow. That's quite unusual. Where did you find it?

It seems to have been quite common for the label to reflect the distributor
for these
