Henry from Gelato Vero http://www.gelatovero.net/ here in San Diego, CA passed away Thursday morning. He became accidentally locked in the freezer a few yards up the road from his shop, at the bottom of Washington Street in San Diego, which he started 23 years ago. It's not clear if he had a heart attack or got locked in , either way he was found an hour or so after he went up the hill to the freezer. :-( I never met Henry myself but he was very well respected amongst the San Diego coffee community and he will be sadly missed.

Yes indeed, this is horrible news. Gelato Vero was the first place I had Gelato, and I have taken all my kids there to experience the same. Several of my freinds Bands have played in the upstairs rooms, and well, Gelato Vero is just a big part of the Italian community in San Diego. I'm trully sad to hear about the loss to Herny's family. Wow! that is sad to hear. I'm not in SD anymore, but I have many fond memories of the place.
