How do I know if Silvia is working upto par? I thought she had been dying and not spitting out enough pressure. I have a pressure gauge but don't know how to use it, other than I put it on the portafilter hit brew and water leaks everywhere and the gauge doesn't change. Help. Also, other test I can do to see if she is up to par. Brew Temp: ? Double shot in 25-30 sec right? Brew Pressure:? Amount of water coming out of portafilter w/ no filter basket: x.x oz in ? seconds? I just need a way to verify for sure if I need to replace the pump. Thanks,

A guess: You need to use a basket in the portafilter when you do this, otherwise the portafilter body alone will not seal against the brewhead gasket. >Also, other test I can do to see if she is up to par. >Brew Temp: ? > That can vary widely depending on the thermostats designed range, where in the cycle you measure it, and more importantly, how you measure it. _AROUND_ 190f. or above __generally__ means you are doing OK as far as temperature goes. >Double shot in 25-30 sec right? > yes >Brew Pressure:? > _ABOUT_ 130-135 psi. max. >Amount of water coming out of portafilter w/ no filter basket: x.x oz >in ? seconds? > it should be __ABOUT__ 70-80ml (2.5 ounces, +/-.25 ounces) in about ten seconds. >I just need a way to verify for sure if I need to replace the pump. > Have you backflushed lately? -if NO, then that can be part of the problem -if YES, then that can be part of the problem ;-) Randy "the Gospel according to Backflush" G. http://www.EspressoMyEspresso.com
