Has anyone tried modifying their Sonofresco to be able to manipulate the roast profile? Details? It seems folks are PIDing out all sorts of coffee devices and I'm wondering if anyone has hacked this yet? -s

There have been rumors of people hacking into the control board and programming their own profile for the presets. I am very happy with the stock setup. I have about 3-4 different presets that i mainly use depending on the bean and what the final roast level I'm trying to achieve. I could honestly say I can't possibly see a legitamate good reason to alter the stock presets. The coffee that is produced from the sonofresco is as amazing as the bean will let it be. I have tried to drink drum roasted coffee since I have first tasted coffee from these roasters back when Chuck at birdrock coffee roasters used to use them. The only person that I felt could give the Sonofresco a run for its money was Larry at rocket coffee roasters in Phoenix who was using some excellent COE winners. Chuck now uses a Probat and he produces some excellent coffee as well. But IMO my sonofresco is as good as it gets. I hope that helps you with your decision. I actually emailed the writer of the software to enquire about customization. For example, the software could automaticly start and stop the blower on the roaster. He said it would be no problem,...for a small fee. It's a project I would be willing to tackle. I'm just a bit afraid of haveing a roast catch fire. But thought Of having full roast profiles with sonofresco is awsome. It really does do a good job. -Wes
