I had pondered a worm gear driven control and decided to just go with
the simple route. I can move the setting in fractions of a step and
hold that setting.
If you'd like my research links for flexible rack and pinion sets,
round gears, flexible shafts, radial positioning sensors, motorized
microcontrollers, etc. (all of which I considered and discarded), let
me know.
