hi all,

Question for you. Lately I've been getting great pulls, the usual 25
seconds for 2oz (or slightly more) and the extraction from my naked
triple portafilter looks like warm honey oozing down. It's
beautiful! But yesterday when I got into my latest batch from sweet
maria's (espresso monkey), I'm having a tough time getting a good
pull. It's not the warm honey look at all, it looks tired and like it
doesn't even want to come out. I had to go up 2 notches on my Rocky
to get back in the 25s range for 2oz, and kept tamp pressure the
same. The beans were roasted this past week, so they are 4-5 days old
at this point. Any other variables that I could be missing?

thanks and a happy 4th to all!!!

As beans age, I grind finer. So when I open a fresh pack, I click one or two
courser (depending on roast). I'm not familiar with SM's EMonkey, but they
may be at their best say, day 7 or 8 ........ if you can get them to last
that long. :)

Yeah, taste is important. If it tastes good does it really matter what
it looks like? We'll start with the assumption that your machine is
clean and operating properly. If not . . .. Are you familiar with
Monkey Blend? It's never been one of my favorites and I haven't had it
in years. Did you roast it yourself or buy it roasted from SMs?
