Here I sit in Surrey BC - drinking Tim Horton's coffee! I have not succeeded in finding a drinkable cup in almost a week here and the need for caffiene exceeds the need to avoid trash coffee. I'm spending my days in a hospice with a very ill brother in law so I'm not looking for places in Vancouver (getting on for an hour away) but any suggestions within an easy drive of 96th and King George would save a life (mine, not his...) I know k Prince is just up the road - but his anti-spam fikters seem impenatrible. Amyone successfully started an exchange with h

I've been trying to find out if there's any decent cafes out your way before replying. The lack of response should speak volumes :( I'll give it one more go though. I'm doing something with Vince from 49th Parallel Roasters next week - maybe he knows someone trying to do it right Surrey way. Also have to (shamefully) admit that my knowledge of cafes outside the Vancouver portion of the GVRD is really, really bad. k PS - in the meantime, I'm going to be selling off a bunch of equipment in the next month or two, so if you want to get some good kit for the home, contact me via my gmail account.

As it turns out, I had a moka/steamer and cheapo grinder with me. Only got to use it before going to the hospice... I DID succeed in finding Coffee King Espresso by googling this group. It was reported a few years ago. The then owner has moved on leaving his daughter and son-in-law. He was out of town, leaving Alexandra alone. A tiny Diedrich has prominence as you go in - but it was cold and had been for two weeks as Andreas was out of town. Despite that, Alexandra pulled an outstandingly adequate cap for me - just before the steam valve wand stuck open, cutting off the chance to try more. For those in my state, I recommend it! -- M for N in address to mail reply
