Subject: The Bunn ES-1A now has a PID.
The job was done in a few hours. Everything went as planned & after firing
it up I used the Silvia settings to program it. It worked great & once the
steam pressure was up the machine was as quiet as a church mouse. I've
temporarily mounted the PID under the drip tray using a Radio Shack plastic
project box. I sealed the box with hi-temp silicone & mounted an aluminum
shield over the whole thing to divert any stray water. I've moved up & down
in setting the PID. I let the HX finish the water dance before I pull a
shot but perfection is hard to find.

The limitations of the single boiler consumer machines & the HX equipped
pro machines are proving difficult to overcome. Now I'm looking for a
double boiler 1-group machine to play with (maybe PID). Or, since I mostly
make straight shots or Americanos, I may just convert one of my HX
machines to a single boiler & get out the milk steamer I fashioned from a
Krups steam pot to use for the occassional milk drink. It's still the best
steamer I've ever used & if I make an effort I'm sure I can make it
attractive enough to my ol' ball & chain that it can find a spot on 'her'
counter top.

That's going to be inconvenient. If he wants to walk around, he'll need to
get a battery pack.
