Subject: What could be wrong with a working HX machine?
|
I am looking at a Brugnetti Simona Top (http://www.coffeegeek.com/ reviews/commercial/simona/latest) of one of my friends, who said it wasn't working. It seems to be working fine except that the machine will produce a low pitched beep while it is pumping during a shot. It's not the low water level warning for the reservoir as that works just fine and produces a higher pitched beep (and stops the pump). Temps and pressure are fine. I drained out the boiler (which flushed out some calcium carbonate) and the auto refill worked OK. It is the automatic (volumetric) version. Can anyone advise me as to what the low pitched warning beep might be trying to indicate? Could it just be the volumetric control is faulty? Greg

Well, after multiple descales, the machines still beeps so I guess it has to be the electronics.

The machine has had minimal maintenance (there was enough gunk between the showerscreen and grouphead + in the PF that I could have made a few cups of instant coffee) so I doubt it has ever been descaled over its 7 year lifetime. Thanks for the suggestion Greg

It takes the same time to start beeping whether there is no PF in the grouphead or if there is a PF with a blind filter installed. Thanks Greg

Hmm... Sounds like you shifted it into reverse gear! :) Time to contact the mfgr. Let us know what you find out. Perhaps it is simply counting shots? Does the beep go away if you pour a single shot? Do you get two beeps if you select a triple?
