Recall some recent research, Tampa, if I'm not mistaken, on benefits
from coffee substances in cases of Alzheimer's. Made the syndicated
feeds, in any event. Anything for a buck, as for the rest. Nothing is
pulled by Google. Appears to be rash of Indian spam bloggers that
operate with impunity in a few lightly trafficked groups I frequent.
Other than having bought the rights to store the Usenet, I can't see
much evidence Google intends to maintain it in working order apart
from flagrant abuses. A shame, really.

Who did google buy these "rights" from? Anyone (with enough
server space) can store usenet. Google bought out the deja.com
(dejanews) usenet archive some time ago, but that's different.
By all means, google should police users posting to usenet
through google groups. Just like any ISP should police those
posting through their servers. It would be a sorry day indeed if
google, or any entity, gained "rights" to police/control usenet
itself.
