The list is now complete; so I can announce this year's presenters at
the SCAA c-Member/Consumer Homecoming on Saturday, July 15, 2006.

Kent Bakke: "The Development of the GS3." Kent is CEO of La Marzocco
in the U.S. The La Marzocco GS3 is currently the most talked-about
development in the world of high-end home espresso. Kent will bring a
prototype to the Homecoming and demonstrate its capabilities.

Tim Castle: "Where We Are Now: The ‘Third Wave’ and Other Trends in
Coffee." Tim is a writer ("The Perfect Cup" and more), coffee broker
and former President of SCAA. His presentations have always been
thought-provoking.

Mark Inman: "Sustainability and Organic Farming." Mark is the
President and co-founder of Taylor Maid Farms coffee roasters. Mark's
comprehensive approach to sustainability is famous in the coffee
world. Mark will be SCAA's President in the 2008-09 term.

Heather Perry: "Espresso and Latte Art Class." Heather is the current
West Coast Barista Champion and previous U.S. Barista Champion. Her
class has been a traditional highlight of the Homecomings.

Joseph Rivera. Joseph is the Director of Science and Technology of
SCAA and will speak on a technology subject that he is still working
on. Joseph's tasting class on organic acids was a highlight of the
2004 Homecoming.

Michael Teahan. Michael is co-owner of Espresso Parts Source and a
frequent commentator on espresso machine design. Michael will speak on
a technical subject related to espresso equipment.

The event will be from 9 to about 5 on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at SCAA
HQ, 330 Golden Shore, Suite 50, Long Beach, CA 90802. [Study a map
before coming! It's easy to get lost in Long Beach Harbor.]

Admission will be free this year. There will be a charge for parking,
and guests will be on their own for lunch.

Call (or leave a message for) Maria Curiel at SCAA for reservations
(562) 624-4100. Seating capacity is limited, so attendance will be
limited to about 50.

I've put up a page of pictures and reporting:
http://users.ameritech.net/jim_schulman/Homecoming_Report.html

No warranty on the quality of either!

"if Harley Davison made cellos, they would look like this"
That may be the best line I've read in some time.
Thanks for the chuckle and the report, Jim.
