Hi guys I want to make a short trip (3-4 days) from NY to Central America preferably Costa Rica. One of my "must visits" will be a coffee Estate. Can anyone recomend any Estate that has a tour for tourists :-) (it would be nice if they speak English).

Guatemala has some of the most beautiful farms I have seen especially in the mountains surrounding Antigua. One thing to keep in mind for your trip is trying to coordinate it with the harvesting season. The season can be anywhere from September to February depending on when the plants flowered. Once you narrow your choice, email or call the farm and find out when they expect the berries to ripen (they will already have a pretty educated guess). You will get more bang for your buck as you will get to see the whole process, not just empty equipment waiting for something to happen. Chris

Cafe Britt offers tours and they're close to San Jose. Haven't been on the tour myself but I did enjoy their coffee. http://www.coffeetour.com/index.cfm?view=1537 On 27 Jul 2006 13:39:15 -0700, "lsegeorge" <lsegeorge@hotmail.com > wrote: >Hi guys > >I want to make a short trip (3-4 days) from NY to Central America >preferably Costa Rica. I am sure there are others. Doka Estate lists a website. If you are open to other countries, your options increase. We loved the tour at Cafe Ruiz, Chiriqui Province, Boquete area, Panama. http://www.caferuiz.com/ As the other poster noted, most coffee is picked and processed between September and February so plan accordingly. Wonderful people, great visit. B
