Subject: FS: Insulation felt for Gaggia boiler

In case anyone wants to do an insulation mod on their Gaggia boiler, I have
some extra felt (left over from my double mods) posted in the buy/sell forum
of Coffeegeek, along with a picture of the Gaggia Baby.

Gaggia boilers are REALLY easy to do, since they basically only have one
attachment going into the boiler, which is easy to disconnect the leads on
and cut a hole in the felt ... then just slip on and tie with wire.

On a separate note, I love this 1/4" ceramic insulation "paper" though you
have to buy in bulk [I posted the website in my coffeegeek ad, in case
people want to go directly to the source]. You can cut out shapes, it's
thin, easy to use, and there were two unexpected benefits on top of the
expected thermal retention: 1) my Giotto is WAY WAY quieter. The clicks I
used to complain about coming from the Sirai were, it turns out, not as much
of an annoyance as hearing the heating element go on and start heating the
water. Now I hear the initial click faintly, but then I don't hear
anything. It's a total 180. And 2) I feel like the internals, such as the
mounted Sirai pressurestat, the Gicar, and all the wires, are actually
protected from the boiler heat. It amazes me in these machines that so many
wires and internals are just sitting loosely against the boiler and the
steam wand pipe etc.

CORRECTION: one attachment going into the SIDE of the boiler. Since all
the rest is mounted on top, I didn't insulate that.
