What is your favorite Internet site for purchasing espresso? In other words, who, in your opinion sells the quality espresso beans, fast shipping, pleasant to deal with, etc. Thanks, Rich

The most important issues (other than cost) are whose coffees you prefer and who can get them to you in a very fresh state. No one can help you with the former as it is a matter of preference, and the latter issue will be effected by the frequency with which the roaster roasts and their distance from you. The first thing that I would do is to explore your local area to see if there are any local roasters whose coffee you like; if you tell us where you live we may be able to make suggestions. Having a good local roaster beats out all other options because there is no shipping expense nor delay and you can find out when the roaster roasts and time your purchases accordingly. If you must buy from a distance than all other things being equal you are best off with roasters who are within a few hundred miles of you since you can then expect to receive your beans a day or at most two after they are shipped. There are many fine espresso blend roasters and this is but a very short and incomplete list: Seattle: Too many to list, including Vivace, Zoka, D'Arte, . . . . . . . etc. etc. etc. LA: Supreme Bean Portland, Oregon: Stumptown St. Louis Area: Rileys Coffee and Fudge Chicago: Intelligentsia North Carolina: Counter Culture NY: Gimme, Gillies but: there are many more and there might be one not far from where you live or work. ken

lots of good replies here, I would have said much the same. I live in the SF Bay Area, and Sweet Maria's is close by in Oakland, so I can order over the 'net and pick up the next day or so (and save on shipping). sweetmarias.com no affiliation, yada yada yada. Thanks to all those folks that replied to my original message - appreciate it. I live in NW Pennsylvania in a small town called Edinboro - I am very close to Erie. I am familiar with Sweet Maria's - they were out of Columbus, Ohio then they moved to CA. I am a home roaster, but due to other commitments I don't always have the time to roast their Monkey Blend (my favorite espresso blend). At present I order from Vivace as well as Cafebritt in Costa Rica. It takes about 5 days to get it from Vivace, and only 3 days from Costa Rica. Another vendor that I have purchased from is WholeLatteLove. I bought my Rancilio Silvia and Rocky from them. Very nice people to deal with and shipments arrive in two days. Anyway, it's not that I am new to all this, but was curious as to your favorite places for espresso beans. Again, thanks to all, Rich >lots of good replies here, I would have said much the same. >I live in the SF Bay Area, and Sweet Maria's is close by in >Oakland, so I can order over the 'net and pick up the next >day or so (and save on shipping). sweetmarias.com > >no affiliation, yada yada yada. > >Todd in Vallejo > > >hermit wrote: >> What is your favorite Internet site for purchasing espresso? Rich, Go here and try this place. It is in Bowling Green, Ohio. They are fabulous, shipping is cheap (around $5 or so and that is when I order three one pound packages) and they have tons of beans from all over the world. I call and talk to the roaster all the time. And they will even bill you. Great place! http://www.groundsforthought.com/indexroaster.html Caesar
