Subject: GENE Coffee Roasterm - HELP

I set up my Gene this morning to do some roasting and the drum got stuck and
won't turn. When the motor is on, it goes "click-click". And, there is an
error message, E3, for which the explanation on the Gene website is:

Chamber rotation detected,

Irregular rotation
Reed S/W broken

The roaster is fairly new, first used in June and probably only used 3 or 4
times at most.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ed

Is it cold in the room you are roasting in?

I have heard of drum roasters bind up before because of this.

If the room you are in is cold then the outside of the machine can
shrink a bit, and then when the drum heats up it expands and gets
stuck.

I don't know about your particular roaster, but you could try again
after the whole machine comes up to temp.

Hope this helps,
Tim

Thanks Tim,
No, it is a beautiful 70 outside and the roaster had been out for about a
half hour before I put the drum into it. And after I first had the problem,
I did wait for everything to cool down and get to ambient temp again.

Any luck Ed?
My GC might be from the same run of machines. I hope this works out for
you (he said selfishly)
