Subject: Gaggia Achille?

I've been reading about the Achille by Gaggia & it seems like an interesting machine. It's an HX'r, uses 58mm PF, can be refilled with water while in use, etc. It's retro styling surpasses anything available in a lever machine. I have a handful of questions. 1) I'm assuming that it's subject to PF sneezes like the LP Europiccola? 2) Given it's weight will it tend to tip like the Europiccola when using too much muscle to pull a shot? 3) Is the use of an adjustable pressurestat less reliable than a thermostat for controlling temps? 4) Is the group heat controlled by siphon or is it to temp fluctuation like the Europiccola? 5) If one wanted to fit a PID on the Achille where would be a good attachment point for the thermocouple? I like trying new machines & I like lever models. Too bad Gaggia didn't go all the way back to their roots & make this more of a retro model of an earlier spring-loaded lever machine. Maybe some day? Anyone care to hazard a comparison with, or opinion of, an Olympia, Pontevecchio, Gensaco, or other home oriented lever machines in production today? -- Robert (duck & cover) Harmon http://tinyurl.com/pou2y http://tinyurl.com/fkd6r
