Subject: Good roasters in Sydney and effects of leaving machine in storage...

Hello
We've recently moved from London to Sydney and we're moving into
our house this week. After 6 months in storage, the highlight is
getting my hands back on my Giotto.
Can anyone recommend a good roaster in Sydney - ideally a place in
the Eastern Suburbs or the CBD?
I was also wondering - does having the machine sit around for so long
in storage cause any deterioration to seals or tubing? I'll be
giving the machine a good clean and flush out the tanks, but is there
anything else I need to do?

Hi Gus,
Welcome to OZ mate!
I use Sienna Coffee who deliver free in the Sydney metropolitan area. I get
next day delivery if I order on-line before 2:00pm, and delivery is free!

Gus, check out Single Origin in Surry Hills. Close to the CBD and in
the Eastern Suburbs! Mecca under the Grace Hotel on King Street in the
city is great for coffee too, but I don't think they sell beans.

And don't forget Cafe Hernandez in Kings Cross which roasts on the
premises and sells its various blends .. and great just to sit at as
well, and watch that part of the world pass by ...
We left that part of the world (Rushcutters Bay) a bit more than three
years ago, to move to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. And though I
roast my own beans now, I do recommend Fresh in Katoomba for their
mainly-organic fresh roasts.

Hi Ken,
I look forward to trying them out. Looks like a great option - it used
to be a grind schlepping into Covent Gdn to pick up beans once a week
in London.

Sounds good and thanks for the recommendation. I'm assuming that
despite the name, they do an espresso blend?
They have a placeholder website http://www.singleorigin.com.au/, which
mentions that its all organic. Despite eating only organic food, my
exception's been coffee, as I found the blends (in London, anyway)
pretty flat. I spoke with the roaster at Monmouth who acknowledged it
was a problem due to the lack of range of beans. I'll be interested to
see if Single Origin's cracked it!

PS - Since you mentioned picking up the atomic at Berry markets, I've
been a couple times, always hoping that lightening will strike a 2nd
time...so far it hasn't!
