Here's a good one - daveb, or dave713, as he's known on eBay is a piece of work. I posted two reviews of espresso machines on eBay. Guess what, our ol' buddy went out of his way to post a negative review on the same subjects. Coincidence you ask? Hardly I say! He's gone out of his way to argue about almost every post I've made & now he's carrying it over to eBay. It's not so much that I mind the idiot & his ranting on, and on, and on, etc., etc., ad nauseam. It's just that the jerk never has anything to offer that would help someone buy or repair a machine. It's always; don't buy this, or that feature suck, or don't do this to your machine, or don't use that in your machine. Can anyone recall the last time the fool ever actually helped anyone solve a problem. So there's no uptick to his perpetual downtick and besides which he's extremely boring. -- Robert (I killfile the bastard here & he shows up there. He must be that damnable Scarlet Pimpernel.) Harmon, you adolescent loser, I realize the world is coming to an end but people like you make me think it must be happening next week. Would you please take the juvenile yellow shit drooling out the side of your mouth over to some other newsgroup? This is a coffee group. Go bother somebody else. Take daveb with you.

While Dave and I don't agree on everything, I have seen some valuable info in his posts. He certainly knows more about home machines than I. This "fool", as you referred to him, sent me a particular item I was having a hard time finding for a Cimbali, at no charge, without any expectations, without even a request on my part. If nothing else, some of his posts engender further discussions. I was chatting to a district nurse the other day. She said that her mother disliked her home help - and that was a good thing because it gave her an interest in life - to moan about the home help. Alt.c (well, usenet) was ever thus - if you don't want it, don't read it; exacerbate it if you want to but i shan't get worked up either way. ken .

Fact is: Harmon hasn't contributed anything but foul-mouthed bickering and inanities to this group since he showed up. The guy acts like he's still stuck in jr. high school. I am continually astonished that a supposedly mature adult can carry on like he does. There is obviously something seriously wrong with the guy. Dave, on the other hand, is providing a service and products that many find valuable. That is obvious from many comments here and on ebay. My guess: Harmon resents the fact that Dave, who has continually showed Harmon to be the fool that he is, is reasonably successful at providing a service. He resents it so much that his ego forces him to troll the planet looking for ways to belittle the guy. What kind of human being expects to be taken seriously when he tells someone to "go piss up a rope"? This is one sick man.

harmon has done more to degrade the level of dialog here than ANYONE IN RECENT MEMORY. His blabbing only shows who he is. A resentful, envious blowhard. But, it seems he CANNOT stop! he still reads dave b and HAS to respond. WHY? What a pathetic, lonely man -- deserving of only our pity. ace

I just want to say to everyone that I really loved this newsgroup, and I got so much out of it that I'm humbled. To think that I can get on line and get immediate feedback from the likes of Barry and Randy and Ken and Alan--and many others-- it just blows my mind. I even got an invitation to come over to someone's house now that I've moved to L.A. And beyond the graciousness, I've received expert advice on repairing my Giotto, my Gaggia Baby, and improving my espresso and cappas. Dave B even sent me an ULKA pump for free to fix my Baby. I know I haven't posted much since the Giotto teflon sleeve nightmare fishing expedition, and it does have something to do with the foolishness going on here, but it doesn't detract from what I got out of it. In my mind, nothing spoils that. Peace, Cordovero (Nadav)

Thanks, Marshall. I think I did make it to Cafe Luxxe. If it's the one, I'm thinking of, I had to go twice because it was closed the first time. Is it on Montana street? The first time, it was closed and I went a block down to Diedrich (I believe) Roasters, and the espresso beans I bought (the blend they use to make espresso) was yukky charcoal. Made it to Luxxe a week later. Great atmosphere, wonderful service. Personally, the espresso seemed to lack crema. I thought of saying something about perhaps making an adjustment, but I thought better of it. Yummy cappa, nice latte art, and nice people. And I picked up some beans which looked an awful lot like Vivace. I'm looking forward to more adventures! I keep getting a bitter flavor in my Giotto. I tried to give it a good cleaning, but perhaps I wasn't thorough enough. Cordo -- at the U.J.! Being as how in Spanish the second last syllable is normally accented when there are no marks you were actually pronouncing it much like a native speaker would have if they saw the word written out of context with no accent marks. The accents get lost in the translation to street signs.
