Subject: How to make a can of incredibly strong coffee?
|
Hi All, Has anybody techniques to make enormous strong coffee, so to be used to make coffee syrup? I usually make a can of coffee and reuse this coffee to set a new can of coffee over new beans, and repeat this 3 times. But is there another way of doing it? The end result should be a can of coffee, not just a cup. Thanks, Stef http://www.theskinnycook.com

Thought it was dumb. Gadzooks, Marty, that reminds me of my graduate school days when we used to put 3-4 heaping teaspoons of instant coffee in a mug of boiling water and then drop in a couple of tea bags. Foul stuff but it kept you awake all night. I asked a buddy up in Pennsylvania, who makes his own coffee and fruit syrup, how he does it. Here's his answer: Put a full can of Maxwell House, Folgers, whatever in a big pot of water (he uses an old graniteware camping coffee pot) and bring it to a hard boil. Then let it sit on the counter overnight and strain it the next day. Add sugar. He adds vanilla, too. I cannot even imagine how nasty that stuff in the pot must be. The syrup is nice when stirred into a glass of Nestle's choklit milk, though.

I think what you are after is coffee concentrate. <nevertrustaskinnycook@gmail.com > wrote in message news:1152265001.318780.283160@m79g2000cwm.googlegroups.com... > Hi All, > > Has anybody techniques to make enormous strong coffee, so to be used to > make coffee syrup? > > I usually make a can of coffee and reuse this coffee to set a new can > of coffee over new beans, and repeat this 3 times. > > But is there another way of doing it? Anyhow, I bet that the syrup would be good mixed in with chocolate milk, etc. Sounds like fun! Marty

John, My poor english... I meant by can of coffee a pot of coffee, in other words, 2 pints or so. And what do you mean precisely by cold extraction? Yes, what I get is undrinkable coffee. I add the same amount of sugar, stirr and boil so it becomes a syrup. Take 10 icecubes, add 6 teaspoons of tha coffee-syrup and add milk till 1 pint. Then blend or mix it, and you get an overdelicous coffee smoothie :) very fast. So now I am trying to find a better way to make the strong coffee: or a faster way, or a way that uses less coffee. Thanks! Stef http://www.theskinnycook.com

How about the aeropress? Not sure if you can buy it in Malaysia (probably not), but it would be quick and efficient. You could always order it online and have it shipped - it's very light, and there's no way it could get damaged during shipping. http://www.aerobie.com/Products/aeropress_story.htm >From the manual: "You can store [the coffee] as concentrate for use several days later. The flavor will remain smooth because the micro filtering removes all coffee grounds." (Actually, I did a little critical editing there. The manual consistently calls the aeropress coffee 'espresso'. Well, espresso it isn't, but it's strong and smooth and would work very well as a coffee concentrate, in my opinion). Ritske

Larry said: > Are you seeking this because you can't simply buy coffee syrup in your area? I live in Malaysia, so this is one of the things I cannot find here (like good French fries either...) Espresso is a good idea, but that's really not a lot for making syrup. Thanks! Stef http://www.theskinnycook.com
