Subject: Is this a new or old model Pavoni Pro lever?

I've asked the coffeesnobs group this too .. but it'll need someone
with a Pavoni Professional lever machine and a tape measure to give me
the answer.
This is really bugging me. I bought a couple of months back a
second-hand Pavoni Professional lever machine. I've blithely assumed
this was the older model, not the one with updated specs, but now I'm
wondering just which model I have, since the specs for mine seem to be
a mixture of new and old models.
Some guides are: on my machine (bought in Australia) the on-off switch
is behind an orange-hued soft plastic cover, not green.
The inner diameter of the filter basket is around 53 mm. The internal
screen seems to be about 48mm. And the external diameter measurement of
the bottom of the group is approx 71 mm.
I've seen in an earlier thread on this forum mention this detail of new
versus old:
Filter holder 59.5 mm up from 57.5 mm
Upper zone of group 60 mm up from 50 mm
Internal Screen 50.5mm up from 48.3
Filter basket 53.5mm up from 48.3

Some of these measurements seem meaningless -- eg just where are they
measuring the filter holder from? Internal? External? Taking flanges
into account or not?
In any case, I seem to have measurements that relate to both the new
specs (filter basket) and old (internal screen, which I attempted to
measure without its removal -- measuring just the part of the
showerhead that shows).
Can someone in the group tell me from this info just which model I
have? I guess the external diameter of the base of the group may be the
definitive clue....

Anthony,
The current La Pavoni Pro has the filter holder that went
from 48.3mm to 50.5mm I use a 51mm tamper that works fine, I think this is
the easiest way to identify which model you have. Not all of them have
the"Millenium" sticker, mine didn't, it was shipped directly from Italy,
maybe that's the reason why ! Not sure of the significance of the color of
the switch, mine is green.

Hopes this helps,

Regards,
BMC
ps.......Mark has a pretty good evaluation of the La Pavoni Pro on
coffeegeek.com it also has a note on the change of dimensions, that were
made on the latest model.

....Donn suggested. I find that cleaning the showerhead can improve
taste significantly and it will also allow you to see the plastic
insert.

I'll try the disassembly technique one day, on a day I wake up feeling
truly confident and ready to tackle anything ....
I think that the 71mm measurement of the base of the group head is
pretty conclusive .. mine must be one of the 'new' models, even though
the 'Millenium' label is missing. Maybe that tag wasn't used in
Australia.
Thanks for all your help on that -- it's good to know exactly what
piece of equipment I'm using.
