I'm looking for recommendations for farms/plantations to visit when I'm
in the neighborhood. FWIW I will have 2 kids with me, 11 and 13.

We are not on the list but Andy, there is a Kona Coffee Driving Tour
available supplied by the County of Hawaii. Farmers have signed up to
be on that map and I often recommend that tour. Go here:

I do think that Kona Coffee driving tour is good. Kids in the car
(ipods going or games) and you can stop as you want.
Hope you give it a try and then do report back, if you don't mind. We
are 2 miles off a bumpy 4 wheel road, so we did not sign up- and also
we are the only 2 workers here and it is our house with jumping
ill-behaved dogs etc.....

Kona Blue Sky does a very good tour.
The best coffee (they have a storefront in town, but not a tour of the
plantation) is Country Samurai.
