I have a 7 month old Rancilio Silva that is set up with an automatic timer to turn on at 4:30 AM so it will be all warmed up by 5:10 when I roll out of bed. Can’t say how it happened but the brew switch was in the on position when the timer hit, machine pumped dry, water all over the floor. Heater still was on. I turned the machine off, let it cool all day. Came home, filled the reservoir, turned on, - NOTHING. Boiler heats but no water movement at ALL. The reset button on the boiler was and IS in. When I turned it on from full cool, no pump action or noise at all but the boiler does heat and generates steam. Some schematics show a "Pump Protection" device. Can it be reset? Any ideas on what I can check and if I determine it is the pump, is it user serviceable? Thanks in advance to those who have any ideas. Yes, user serviceable, if you're handy, and if the pump was on for hours, dry, that's probably the problem. You can confirm with a volt/ohmmeter. -- St. John What color is a chameleon on a mirror?

I can't remember what my silvia looked like inside, fickle that way i guess. does the pump come with a thermal fuse like the later gaggia's do? it's supposed to prevent damage to the pump. now that i think about it do all gaggia's have this or just the 240 volt models? -- Robert (duck & cover) Harmon http://tinyurl.com/pou2y http://tinyurl.com/fkd6r "daveb" <davebobblane@gmail.com > wrote in message news:1152900198.398983.46680@m73g2000cwd.googlegroups.com... > Hmm, no doubt pump coil is burned out. _ it is rated for about 5 > minutes on-time max. > > contact me off-line -- I have pumps. -- ask Cordo > > Dave > 877 286 2833 > > > > Michael S.
