I've recently been hired by a roaster in the Orlando area that has a
retail coffeehouse, one franchise in the ground and two more coming on
line by fall. My position will be to help in consultation and training
of franchisees, and to develop the restaurant and resort market.
All coffee is roasted daily to order at each individual location, and
delivered to key accounts locally, shipped daily to others. The coffee
is outstanding from a freshness and cup quality point of view.
In addition we will be opening a coffeehouse inside of Florida
Hospital. This is significant because the ownership is from a religion
that eschews the intake of caffeine from any source, but they
understand the wants of patients and staff. Foot traffic is about
22,000 people daily. They also have 5 more locations in Florida, 50
nationally, which we hope will follow.
I will be heavily involved in all machine issues and specifically
espresso training.
We installed the coffee bar and kitchen for the Orlando Culinary (Le
Cordon Bleu) Academy this week and will be conducting monthly classes
for aspiring chefs. Hopefully this will bring more recognition to the
importance of coffee in any foodservice setting.
The guy who asked me to come on board is someone I've known since he
was 19. He used to have a coffee cart and would come by my garage in
Kissimmee to help with machine repairs. He has a true passion for good
coffee and great palate for roasting.
Look for big things from this company in the not-so-distant future.
Inasmuch as they have no online offerings at this time, I don't feel
it incorrect to mention their name. It is Volcano's Coffee, located in
Longwood. I am pleased to be affiliated with them....al
