To my fellow coffee aficionados,

My husband and I invented a new coffee accessory . . . The Java Wand
which permits you to brew and drink a single serving of your favorite
coffee in your mug anytime, anyplace.
It also prevents teeth stains and does not require a coffee maker or
filter. We sincerely welcome your valued opinion!

Happy coffee drinking,
Nancy

I don't get how the Wisdomwickie prevents stains.

Also, not that coffee drinkers are particularly fastidious, but some of
us don't buy a product unless we know how and how often to clean all
the narrow glass tubes.

I'm thinking of marketing an even better device: Stretch some nylon
hosiery over one's head before sipping the coffee or tea. (Not
recommended for use at airports or at Starbucks adjacent to banks.)

I supose by acting as a straw, limiting contact with the front teeth.
However, I agree, preventing stains is going a little too far.

:-) you forgot to mention the nylon should be new and washed. Wouldnt want
to be drinking manufacturing chemicals. Yuck!

Kudos to you for your inventiveness.

However, your device will keep the te leaves or coffeegrounds in contact
with the water for far too long. With green tea, the brewing time is
crucial. If the tea is brewed too long, it gets bitter. Coffee too needs
a correct brewing time, and once the coffee is exposed to the brewing
water for more than 4 or 5 minutes, the flavor will get worse, not better.

All that being said, I think your device would work well for drinking
Yerba Mate.

I sincerely thank you for all your valued comments.

Your concerns about the filter . . . it is not wire it is an FDA
approved thermo mesh cloth. The entire unit is dishwasher safe and
easily cleaned.

Our focus group tests reveal that the coffee does not get bitter in the
cup as is the case with some black teas.

As for preventing teeth stains . . . because it is a glass straw the
coffee or tea does not come in contact with your teeth. Plastic straws
with hot fluids can be toxic.

It's meant to be a handy tool to make one cup at a time your way -
where ever you are. Once people try it their faces light up at how
simple and delicious their coffee is. The famous Canyon Ranch spa has
just placed an order to serve their guests coffee with the Java Wand.

Happy Coffee Drinking!

I wonder if you have any scientific basis for that claim. On the one
hand, if you're fully appreciating the flavor of the coffee, it's going
to reach all parts of the mouth, straw or no straw, and on the other,
when drinking from a cup, the front (what people see) surfaces of the
teeth are shrouded by the lips.

I like real hot coffe so slurping the hot drink from a edge of a cup
is my prefered method to drink. Using a straw would just mean I would
get a burned mouth from sucking on boiling hot coffee.
Just my opinion anyway....

Outside of the fact that they haven't really "invented" it (I think the
bombilla has been around for a couple hundred years or so --- see
http://www.soygaucho.com/english/mate/labombilla.html), how could you
possibly keep the "wisdom wand" clean? I also fail to see how it would
prevent stains. Also, you'd miss out on the olfactory pleasure of coffee by
distancing your nose from the cup . . .
All in all, it looks like a pretty silly idea.

What brainless twits these people must be to think there would be any
meaningful market for this thing. It reminds me of those straw
gimmicks that were used by parent administering iron tonic to their
kids back in the fifties.
