Subject: New lid for Presto carafe


For the record:

After buying a new Presto Scandinavian coffee machine from Sears.com ($35) I
had a problem with the carafe leaking. Specifically, coffee was siphoning
through the seem where the handle attaches to the glass and dripping down
the outside of the carafe. I discovered that Presto was aware of the
problem and had created a new lid that was supposed to solve it. Well, the
new lid DOES solve the problem. If you buy one and have this issue here is

The person I spoke with on the phone believed that the lids had already been
replaced on the machines currently being sold, but this was definitely not
the case on mine - the new lid has an extra lip that directs the coffee
straight down, keeping it away from the seem. I needed to push just a
little to get them to send it (no charge). Other than this the machine has
been working fine. Cheers!
