Subject: Ordered LM filter baskets for Silvia...

Was annoyed with my inability to pull a decent single shot, despite
perrrrfect double shots.

A bit of trawling through the alt.coffee archives led me to believe that
the stock Silvia single shot basket is shite, so I've ordered La
Marzocco single and double shot baskets.

Looking forward to seeing how they go ;-)

Opinions?

Jules

I have never used the singles- it's hard enough to perfect the double
without trying to also get good at singles. In the same way, if you
get a really great single all you will do is kick yourself for not
making it a double and having more to enjoy.

Maybe good.. or maybe not. Unfortunately, the LM baskets are evidently
made within a liberal range of parameters. Some fit a 58mm tamper just
fine and others are such a tight fit that just a bit of loose coffee
grounds between the tamper and the sides of the basket can make it a
very tight fit and it becomes very hard to tamp properly.

Sounds a little like alimony to me...

"Ah yes, another cynic heard from. Get away son, ya bother me.", uttered
with a heavy W.C. Fields style. Alimony is not heard? Believe me, it is VERY
deeply felt! And felt, and felt! As my lawyer says, "Life's a bitch & then
Robert goes and marries her."
