Subject: Pod samples at Costco today

We were in Costco today and they had a sample lady who had a pod machine
set up and was letting people make their own cup of coffee,
demonstrating how easy it was and what "wonderful" coffee it made.

While one of them was brewing, I asked her what temperature of water it
used to brew and she proudly told me 180 degrees. Whooie!

I explained to her about the new Technivorm I bought, how it berews at
the correct 200 degrees, how much I've been enjoying it, and how I get
freshly roasted beans at Whole Foods, that have been roasted within 2
days of when I buy them, and how IMO it makes the best coffee I've ever
had, right at home for me.

But it was free and I tried a cup of the pod. It tasted about the same
as the industrial pre-ground coffee that people commonly offer in the
workplace. Like something that had been roasted and ground 3-6 months
ago.

I guess you get what you pay for. But they wanted $134 for that pod
machine, and the Technivorm only cost me $192 with shipping. Whew. I
wouldn't trade getting back the $58 difference for that pod machine
though. No way.
