Subject: Poor hopper design of Anfim best Chrome
|
Hello group, I am using an Anfim best Chrome grinder and a Bezzera Machine. I've noticed the grinding time gets longer when the hopper gets empty. The last beans also need help to fall into the grinding chamber. My idea: Place a plastic cylinder into the hopper, fill it up with beans and place a weight on top of the beans. I was thinking to use the extra stainless tamper I have. Has anyone tried something like this to make your grinder grind faster? Thanks, JW

The Mazzer Super Jolly has a ridge around the inside that catches beans the way yours does. I bought an after market hopper on eBay ($15(ish) with two advantages; 1) it's a Hell of a lot smaller than stock, 2) smooth surface all the way to the burrs. Since I roast my own now & usually have several kinds of bean on hand I only put as much in the hopper as I'm going to use immediately -- Robert (duck & cover) Harmon http://tinyurl.com/pou2y http://tinyurl.com/fkd6r "JeeWee" <vlaflipremovethis@freemail.nl > wrote in message news:Xns981D6A655322DJeeWee@193.202.122.102... > Hello group, > > I am using an Anfim best Chrome grinder and a Bezzera Machine. Hoppers are designed to be full, or emptying. Once the beans fall to a low level. most circular hoppers will have dancing beans. My Cimbali Cadet (rectangular hopper) doesn't suffer from this. People often replace the hopper with something smaller with possibly more vertical sides - like a large plastic lemonade bottle, pill bottle etc, or similar. -- Regards, Danny http://www.gaggia-espresso.com (a purely hobby site) http://www.malabargold.co.uk (UK/EU ordering for Malabar Gold blend)
