Subject: Pressurized basket/portafilter

Newbie here. 1 month into espresso at home.
I have a Bodum Granos (I know, I know) but I'm pulling some decent
shots.
KA Proline grinder.
Good, freshly roasted beans (blend and roast from John Hornall at
Chestnut Hill Coffe Company--John was Hines Public Market coffee in
Seattle.)

It has smallish baskets (around 51mm; I'll get the digital calipers out
tomorrow and be more accurate)
Questions are:
1. Is the pressurization in the portafilter bottom or the basket or
both?
2. If the basket, will something else fit (Saeco has some 51mm baskets
for some of the lever machines)
3. If I can't get another basket, (and that is the "pressurization"
issue, could I put the Bodum basket on the lathe and remove (what
appears to be) the lower bottom,it appears to be a double bottom?

Thanks
Stan

Some kind of restrictor or blind setup on pressure-to-grind. Sounds
nice for a crema enhancer (C), anyway. I've also the same. I've noted
others say - as a design implementation, they're 'OK'. Not purist, or
as a proper tamped pressure machine setup (without the restrictor).
With that in mind - I'd go after the staight-thru filter, and keep the
spare for original parts stock. Judge any difference on the way a
restrictor is intended to work vrs how better machines function within
latitude and in case the design isn't proof it's an idiot's shortcut
for one less #800 support call.
