Subject: Rocky v. Mazzer mini -- part of a dialog with a customer

<< How does the Mazzer mini compare to the rocky? >>

dear M:

" I'll give you my personal experience. The rocky does a fine job -- I
owned one for over 4 years.

BUT as an owner, it would leave an annnoying amount of old coffee
behind in the doser after use, due to 'loose' tolerances in its
construction. -- that was not a huge deal to me, but to some a big
deal .

The rocky grinder settings had many steps and I did not have trouble
finding a good setting -- the Mazzer has NO steps, and allows even
finer settings.

BUT [here it comes] why, as a seller I'm phasing out of them. --

Why? about 15 to 20 percent of them have either damage in shipping or
fit and finish problems; a metal or plastic burr here and/or there,
cracked plastic parts, scratches, loose fittings, and other things that
gave a VERY poor impression to the customer in spite of the fact that
all were factory sealed in Italy, and double boxed for shipment.

In sum, I think the rocky is a bargain for the price. The mazzer is a
grinder -- well, IMHO -- you really should never need or desire another
espresso grinder, for the rest of your life! "

They are a good value, but some are NOT thrilled when they open it.

I'm not even sure they're a great value. I'm just saying I like how compact
they are.

Still appreciated your post,

One thing I'll say about the Rocky's. They're a very small size for a good
grinder. For some people this can be a deciding factor.
