Got up and read more of the negative, baiting, troll-generated posts on the ng this morning over a cup. Knowing better, I kept my fingers off the keyboard and leashed up the dogs to take them out for a walk and perhaps compose a witty retort to one of the particularly venemous threads infecting the ng. Cool morning for once after a very rare rain somewhere in the surrounding 1000 square miles yesterday. Lots of skittering wildlife. Mmmmmmm. Lots of smells from the moisture. Mesquite, creosote, spanish olive. The more I walked the less important what the new-comers on the ng have brought became. It too shall pass. I spent 4 days last week in Minneapolis with my son who had a tumor removed with a clean outcome. Why should I even bother to respond to the ones who bring nothing good to our group? Easy answer. You can spend a lot of time picking up other's trash in the neighborhood and unless it makes you feel better it isn't going to change the behavior of the ones throwing the trash. When I got back I checked the mailbox and a small package had arrived. It was from a friend who had spent a considerable amount of time in the shop writing. I opened the package when I got back to the house and pulled out a book. Cool. "Connecting Speaking and Writing" is the title. He is an ESL instructor who retired and moved to the northwest. Opened the book to the dedication page. I was a little stunned. "For Bernie and Milagro". From where I stand the tao of the current situation is that we continue to do well what we do well. It will make a difference and even though the tao would be to not do it for the recognition we are, after all, human. And it helps refocus me, at least, on a path with less time to respond to the negative and remember that there just isn't enough time for both the negative and positive. Be safe and be well and choose well. Bernie
