I saw a story in the News section of Coffeegeek regarding the recall of one of Starbucks thermal brewers and didn't know if any one had already posted anything on A.C. Here is a link to the Consumer Product Safety Commission announcement: http://tinyurl.com/y99zk7 Steve in Ft. Worth

Nope it is just a disguise that some use for commercial links, or ego 'pages' Dave www.hitechespresso.com > Pure curiosity, not a criticism - I've seen a lot of tinyurl's on AC - > why do people use them? > > The target URL isn't very long and I think it's helpful to see the full > URL before you click to let you assess whether the source is reliable > enough to read.... > > I'm just concerned that I'm missing a netiquette principal?

The target URL isn't very long and I think it's helpful to see the full URL before you click to let you assess whether the source is reliable enough to read.... I'm just concerned that I'm missing a netiquette principal?

Generally, I use TinyURL out of habit, just in case the original URL is not so "tiny" :-). As for the "Junk Brewer" and "Red China" reference by Daveb, I could not disagree more although you are certainly free to express your opinion. I own two previous models of the Barista Aroma Thermal brewer ( 4 cup and 8 cup models ). They've worked great for years and I would not hesitate buying more products from Starbucks in the future. They've got a terrific track record with regard to the customer service that I have personally experienced. Their coffee beans are not always my first choice ( I prefer Panther City Coffee because they roast in-house, or my own homeroast ), but their coffee of the day usually will do in a pinch. Anyway, I didn't want to give anyone the impression that I was bashing Starbucks. I was just giving out an FYI to fellow A.C.'ers in case they owned this coffee maker. I wouldn't want anyone's home, or worse, destroyed because of a fire. Steve in Ft. Worth

Agreed! And I might add that there are Web server exploits that can do pretty nasty things to your computer just by viewing a Web page. No way I'd ever click a tinyurl link! Agreed, it is old school, but still true. Still forced labor and sweatshops. 4 million US mfg jobs lost, 200 billion trade deficit to them this year. ROTFL! All so we can git stuff cheap. sorry.
