I came upon a downloadable pdf (847pp, 70MB) copy of William Ukers 1935 classic "All About Coffee, 2nd Ed." recently. I have no idea where it came from or who did the original scan, but I thought some here might find it interesting to have a copy. It's posted to: http://www.sendspace.com/file/juy5mf

Yes, it's been floating around for quite some time. Here's a link unobscured by nonsensical directory heirarchies as well as being functional without the use of javascript. http://twoloonscoffee.com/download/all_about_coffee.pdf

I'll host just about anything. ;-)

FYI, the recently (a few years) published facsimile edition is $96. It's aesthetically pleasing, arcane, funky, and informative. IMO, it's like a wonderful old cookbook that one would never read from cover to cover, but if it sat well on a counter or a visible and convenient bookself (one might even suggest a "coffee table"), you'd read pieces here and there over the years. Personally, this is not the sort of text I enjoy sitting in front of a monitor to read. Even less, would I want to download, print, organize, access, or have it anywhere in my line of vision. Just where are you going to store this ream of home-bound paper? I know that this is in the category of "let-me-tell-you-how-to-spend-your-money," but anyone who is actually going to read this tome, deserves, at least, to have it look and feel good. I got mine from SweetMaria's. Martin Rogue wrote: > I came upon a downloadable pdf (847pp, 70MB) copy of William Ukers > 1935 classic "All About Coffee, 2nd Ed." recently. I got mine from SweetMaria's. The download is a photostat of this foprmatted for an acrobat reader; there's no need to print it out.. I have no doubt that the feel of the original is much better; and Ukers' voice would probably seem a bit less self-satisfied in a heavy tome than on magnetic eddies in a disc. Nevertheless, it works for well for those unwilling to spend the bucks.
