Subject: Water softener turns water yellow
|
HI there all, I recently bought one of these: http://www.siliconweb.ie/softener/ My German's not that great (read: non-existant) but it's clearly a small inlilne water softener for tank espresso machines at a ridiculously cheap price. All well and good, but it's turning my water yellow. When it arrived I dumped it straight in Silvia's tank and a yellow cloud started to emanate around. So I figured I should pre-soak it in salt water, which I did. It's alittle less severe now but it still turns any water it comes incontact with a pale shade of yellow. So now I'm wondering whether this behaviour is a normal feature of these small softeners. Or should I steer clear of these cheap ones, buy a proper Rancilio one, and remind myself once again that you get what you pay for? Many thanks for any insight. Bruce
