We're hoping to use a Saeco MDL that has been in storage for a while. This is our second machine of this kind. Though we're familiar with the priming/draining process, we can't get water to flow through this machine. The water tank is full and properly seated. Though the water dispensing valve is operative, there is no sign of water entering the machine. When I turn the machine on, the red water light flashes. When I open the steam vent, the pump operates but the steaming wand emits nothing. When the water temperature light comes on, I turn off the machine so as not to overheat it. Before I tote it to a repair shop, any advice out there? a_n_m

DaveB: Nothing is leaking from the machine. The water line into the machine from the tank appears to be clear, as does the steam tube. But within the "black box"... 8~/ I suspect there is a clog somewhere that would take a technician to remedy. I suppose my fantasy of sending compressed air into the water intake isn't wise! What about threading a pipe cleaner into the water intake and/or steam tube? At the Saeco website, we found two service centers in metro NYC where we could drop off/pick up the machine, so I'm thinking of giving them a call. Thanks for your response. a_n_m daveb wrote: > cheers. > > is a hose broken, leaking or disconnected? > > if not, then is it clogged? > > DAve > Saeco/ Gaggia service SE

I have the Vienna DeLux. Should be similar. Did you take the dispensing wand off and try to run water out? It might be clogged. I wouldn't stick pipe cleaners or wires down the machine because there is a flow sensing valve in the line. I assume you can hear the pump vibrating. I wonder if the boiler is rusted shut. Compressed air might be an option I would try. What the heck, you're going to drop a bundle at the service center anyway. :o) If it were me, I'd take it apart and disconnect hoses at each spot and see if air blows through. Stick a suitable wire up the steam nozzle, you'll NEVER get near the flow meter with any wire. > >> DAve > >> Saeco/ Gaggia service SE > >

Hi Daveb, I was talking about not putting a wire down where the water container drains. The other direction, as you said, should be OK. Sounds like some creatures during storage might have nested up there somewhere.... :o) Tom "daveb" <davebobblane@gmail.com > wrote in message news:1163716572.310776.225490@i42g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... > Stick a suitable wire up the steam nozzle, you'll NEVER get near the > flow meter with any wire. > > > >> >> DAve >> >> Saeco/ Gaggia service SE >> > >
