Subject: how does this thing make espresso?

There's an item for sale on EBay which is billed as "
Vintage AUSTRIA WEIN ESPRESSO COFFEE MACHINE" ( http://tinyurl.com/eaegh )
from the photos, I can't really see how this would work---- looks like the
stem going into the coffee basket is solid, so I'm wondering how water gets
to the grounds. Am I missing something? (P.S. I asked the seller the same
question, but he hasn't replied). Thanks for taking a look at it . . .

Beautiful machine.
It looks like the water goes up the tube and gets squirted into the
bottom of the cup. Then through the filter lower disk, the coffee, the
upper filter disk, and into the urn section from where one can pout
the cups.

It looks sort of like an old percolator.
In any event, I would not expect anything even remotely resembling espresso
to come out the spout.

Thanks ---- I thought it looked more like an old percolator, too (although
I'm still puzzled how the water would reach the coffee, given that the stem
appears solid --- perhaps this machine's just been cobbled together from
assorted and unrelated parts?) .... anyway, thanks for confirming my
suspicions . . .

It's a dressed up Moka Pot, for Christ's sake.
It's a "stovetop espresso" maker. It's not really espresso at all, but
it's definitely not a percolator. It's a moka maker.

If this is addressed to me:
-- it has an element in the bottom
-- if it's prewar, it is an espresso maker, since all espresso
machines worked like this at that time.
