Subject: question about Expobar lever model

My neighbor is looking at this http://tinyurl.com/hwuz8 & asked my opinion. I've never laid eyes on one of these but from the pictures I had a few questions of my own, It looks like this Office Lever has the digital temp control like the Brewtus. Can anyone verify this for me before the auction ends. Sorry to wait 'til the last minute! ;*) Robert (duck & cover) Harmon -- http://tinyurl.com/pou2y http://tinyurl.com/fkd6r Remove "Z" to reply via email.

Sad to say, but your membership isn't growing today. Someone beat him out on this one; but he's determined to spend his kids inheritance. Now he's bidding on a Pulser by Expobar (he gets this tunnel vision thing). Actually, everything I read about Expobar indicates it is a reliable machine especially with the digital boiler control. BTW, this was the original Brewtus that retailed for about $2000 if I remember correctly? -- Robert (duck & cover) Harmon http://tinyurl.com/pou2y http://tinyurl.com/fkd6r "Jefe" <jefralston@gmail.com > wrote in message news:1152152932.195353.183120@m73g2000cwd.googlegroups.com... > > Robert Harmon wrote: >> My neighbor is looking at this http://tinyurl.com/hwuz8 & asked my >> opinion. >> I've never laid eyes on one of these but from the pictures I had a few >> questions of my own, It looks like this Office Lever has the digital temp >> control like the Brewtus. I was screwed on two espresso machines over there. Cost me months of my life both times, plus real money. If he "needs" to get a deal, just buy off of Wholelattelove's refurb site or Coffeegeek's buy-sell forum. C

OTOH, I've bought several machines on ebay that were "steals".... NS Elli, Olympia Cremina, NS Oscar, etc. at prices so low they are almost embarrassing, from sellers that had no clue as to what they were selling (and had mis-listed them accordingly). If you take the right precautions ebay can be fine. I think buying off Ebay makes sense when you know a little bit about machines, and so are ready to change burrs on a grinder, or troubleshoot a broken pressurestat. But if you're an average consumer, you ought to view buying Italian made espresso equipment on Ebay akin to buying a Russian-made car on Ebay. There's no doubt that ebay rewards the knowledgeable (and those able to guess a mis-spellings and mis-listings). Sometimes very fine machines are listed under obscure names that are relabels by importers. You also need to know what NOT to buy - lemon brands, machines that are priced at more than retail, etc. - remember you are only buying 1 machine so you can afford to reject the 999 others that are listed. And be patient - watch the listing for a couple of weeks, don't expect to find your machine TODAY. If the thought of buying a machine that is missing something like the portafilters doesn't bother you , there are bargains to be had, with a little luck. I haven't been disappointed yet, but I know that others have. Be sure your seller packs the machine well - UPS is brutal. Sure looks like an original Brewtus, but I'm not sure. Cordo, with all due respect, you are wrong. I agree w/ Jack. P.S. I have a customer whose Gaggias I overhaul, they are offered with a WARRANTY! a good concept. I can't begin to count how many friends and relatives have fancy espresso machines and don't have the faintest idea about the machine or making espresso.
