Subject: isomac millenium tamper
I read a few posts on other boards suggesting for the isomac millenium
that one should go with a curved tamper vs a flat one. Anyone have
any suggestions?

I doubt that it will matter much. I find tamping to be the least
important of all the variables. Italian baristas don't tamp at all or
just do a light level tamp with the tamper attached to the grinder.
With the approx. 120 psi in the pf all the whirls and swirls that some
people do is akin to playing with themselves. More important than
tamping is that the dose of grounds in the pf be level and consistent
from shot to shot.

I'd say you're going to be off the skew with curvature. Most sold can
be assumed to be flat. With a flat you can swirl up a convexly curved
tamp, but not a concave impression (not sure if some would prefer a
tamp for the latter in matching a dispersal screen profile or other
factors).
