Subject: opinion wanted: Isomac Zaffiro vs. Espobar pulsar
Hi all.

I'm considering a new espresso machine and thinking to buy either
Isomac Zaffiro or Espobar pulsar. Any home users have some experiences
with those machines? Or do you have other recommendation for E61 - HX
espresso machine with the price range of those machines.

Thank you.

Great great great respond and I finally change my mind about my choice.
That's right, both machine I consider are fairly old machines and I
didn't know Quickmill has a lever-type true E61 - HX machine for under
1k and ECM machine is over my budget either. I'll consider Quickmill
Anita as my priority and newer usually is better. Thanks alot ya'll
with the respond.

I've had an Expobar Office Control for about two years now. It's been
great. My choice was based on it's E-61 "psuedo" grouphead (treu, it is
not as finished as those on machines with exposed groupheads, but it
certainly isn't cheaply-made) HX, size and price. I am very happy with
the purchase. I've made a couple of small mods and recently needed to
buy another machine when we built a cottage.

My original intent was to get a more expensive machine to replace the
Office at home, but as I looked at the prices and what I got for
another $600, I decided on a second Office! (lightly used). The Office
lacks a pressure gauge, but I just use a PF-mounted gauge for original
setup tuning - I don't see the need to watch pressure for each shot.

The Office is a mid-level machine but it is well-built (IMHO) and has
given no trouble. I mix RO water with tap and check with a small TDS
meter. The Office is a nice size for a small kitchen and fits in well.
I think it's excellent value for the money. WLL often sells "demo"
machines on that auction site - oddly they will not respond to direct
requests for a demo machine (I ended up buying mine privately).

Our coffee mix is about 80% cappuccino and 20% espresso, so good
steaming is a priority and the Office delivers. I have replaced the OEM
steam wand with "cool touch" wands and it's a big improvement.

In its heyday a few years ago (when I bought mine), the Zaffiro had no
E-61, non-HX competition. Today, I'd probably buy a Quick Mill Alexia.

I got a QuickMill Anita HX/E61 machine--basic design, pretty solid in
the 15 months I've had it. Currently $995 at Chris'. He also has a
Single Boiler (no HX) he's calling Alexia @ $775 including shipping so
either, depending on your preferences. Both are lever-type true E61
group, come with 2 porta- filters, etc.

Isomac had some "issues" a year or two ago--seems to me that they were
commercial, not technical, but I could be wrong. I looked at the Tea
& Millennium, but they got to be hard to find.

Expobar: I didn't like the psuedo-E61 group and I think the internals
are lower grade than the QuickMill machines.

For the difference in price, I'd still go for a QuickMill.
