I'm going to buy a Reg Barber tamper as a present for some friends who have a Gaggia Evolution espresso machine. The machine is reported to have a 58 mm filter basket. Can anyone tell me if a 58 mm tamper will work in this filter (by this I mean can you tamp to the required depth without binding on the sides of the filter)? Thanks, John

I used a 58mm solid S/Steel tamper, convex face, single shot basket, so it should be fine in a double too.

I used to have one, my 58mm tamper actually had a little bit of room side to side. Wes
